 A Secure Financial Future ....
Something we all desire but often worry about

Like most people you have hopes, dreams and life goals for you and your family. Perhaps buying a home or business, providing for your children’s university education, reducing taxes, eliminating debt, taking a dream vacation, retiring comfortably, leaving a financial legacy to your children and/or a charity important to you. The question is; Do you have a plan in place to make your dreams come true?

K.P. Power Financial Planners Inc. is a fee based financial planning firm with a Mission to help our clients achieve Financial Peace of Mind despite an uncertain world.  We believe;

Financial issues can cause stress in our lives and at times in our relationships.  Stress, in turn causes many health related problems,

You can create Financial Peace of Mind – a state of calm and harmony that comes from knowing you are doing everything you can to achieve your financial goals – by creating a comprehensive financial plan,

You can have the Power to Dream, the Power to Plan and the Power to Achieve your financial goals through the ongoing monitoring/updating/adjusting of your comprehensive financial plan.

Financial planning services should be available to all Canadians and not just the wealthy,

Financial planners should have a fiduciary responsibility to their clients.  They should always act in their clients best interest,

In transparency with respect to payment for services.  Whenever possible services should be offered on a fee basis versus via commissions from product sales, and

People do not take the action steps required to achieve their financial goals due to a lack of confidence in their financial literacy.  Financial planners should provide the financial education clients need so they become empowered to make financial decisions they are comfortable with.

Paul Power CFP

Paul is a Certified Financial Planner, CFP.  He earned the CFP designation by completing a rigorous education program and passing the 6 hour final examination.  In addition Paul has the necessary work experience, and commitment to professional practice standards required of CFP’s.

While attending college in Edmonton Paul had two experiences that resulted in his desire to become a financial planner.

First he observed many of his friends and former high school classmates traveling in different paths.  Some took high paying jobs in the oil and gas industry.  They worked hard, made good money and then played hard spending all the money they made.  Others were fellow students; some used student loans to pay for their education and were on track to graduate with a degree and lots of debt. Others had saved and worked while going to school and were on track to graduate with a degree and no debt.  One thing all of them had in common was they did not have financial goals and any semblance of a plan to achieve their goals.  Even more concerning was that most of them had poor financial literacy.

Second he undertook a two year education program covering stock, options and futures trading.  Although Paul is not a stock broker this program provided a solid foundation on the importance of having financial goals and a plan to achieve them as well as an understanding of the financial markets.

When investigating the financial planning industry, Paul found that it was not just his twenty-something friends who had a lack of financial goals and a plan to achieve them as well as poor financial literacy.  He discovered that many adults of all ages struggled in areas financial.  Combining his passion for learning and helping others as well as his growing passion for the financial services industry Paul co-founded K.P. Power Financial Planners with his partner and father Ken.

Paul’s interests outside of work include playing the guitar, sports (he played college level basketball and junior football), coaching sports (he is currently on the football coaching staff at Holy Trinity Academy High school in Okotoks), and working out to stay in excellent physical shape.
